CARTHAGENA LOCK TO END OF CROWN MEADOW
The lock cut swims can fish well in the winter, if the river has extra flow mainly small fish.
Below Nazeing New Road bridge starts the stretch known as the Conkers. In the summer months you can find plenty of roach on hemp and tares, with chopped worm producing some good perch and the odd tench. Come winter the chub move down from the weir pool and can be caught from any swim with far bank cover, waggler fished across accounting for chub to 8lb.
Below Old Nazeing Road bridge is the Crown Meadow, the summer months produce roach, dace and perch, also try the swims on the end of the meadow for the bream. Once again come the winter its mainly chub, from under the boats or far bank cover.

ACCESS AND PARKING
From Broxbourne, take Station road towards Nazeing turn left immediately after crossing the river, past factories turning left at tee junction towards river.

Meadgate Road from Carthagena lock to Dobbs weir lock, avoiding residents drive ways.
Or from Broxbourne take Station Road turn right on bridge into Old Nazeing road.
