River Stort Navigation
River Stort Fishery at Eastwick near Harlow
This is located on the Herts/Essex border and runs parallel to the A414 Road at Eastwick west of Harlow. The A414 is a dual carriageway and the car park is located on the South side of the carriageway, indicate early and be watchful when exiting.
The fishery is split into three sections, which gives the Club fishing rights on both banks of the River.
On the towpath side we control all the fishing from Hunsdon Lock to Parndon Mill Lock a distance of 1,755 metres.
On the A414 roadside we control the section upstream from the car park bridge for a distance of 630 metres. Downstream, known as the Willows section, we have 552 metres. Both these sections are natural bank.
The river is a flowing fishery and after rain it can have quite a flow, a stick float method or trotting can be a good tactic. Like most other rivers it offers itself as a good mixed fishery with some big carp, bream and chub. There are plenty of roach, small chub, dace bleak and gudgeon to be caught.
This venue was stocked in March with 500lb of roach and bream.
This section of the river is navigable so expect a few narrow boats, cruisers and canoes at any time.
A close season has to observed on this water.
